Message from Ms Kirsten Sayers, Senior Trade & Investment Commissioner, Singapore / ASEAN Investment Commissioner
Australian Trade Commission, Singapore

On behalf of the Australian High Commission and the Australian Trade Commission, I extend a warm welcome to all the visitors and exhibitors attending the Study in Australia Education Fair 2010.
Australia remains one of the most popular destinations for Singaporean students, with its high quality of education and one of the best standards of living in the world. Since 2002, more than 32,000 Singaporeans have enrolled in educational courses ranging from schools to higher education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. There are currently around 9,350 Singaporeans studying in Australia.

Designed to cater to those who would like a quality education in Australia, the Fair aims to present visitors with up to date and accurate information about the different options and opportunities available to Singaporeans on their educational journey in Australia.

At the Fair this year, various education programmes and scholarship opportunities from a wide variety of organisations will be showcased. This event can provide you with an excellent opportunity to:

  • Discover quality academic programmes from 39 universities in Australia, including universities ranked among the top 100 in the world and the Asia Pacific region

  • Find out how to apply for prestigious scholarship programmes, including those for the Endeavour Awards, the Australian Government’s merit-based scholarship programme for international students, and from institutions such as the Ministry of Health in Singapore.

  • Get firsthand accounts about living and studying in Australia from fellow Singaporean students and alumni

  • Find out more about Vocational Education and consider this as an alternative pathway to a degree from Australian school representatives

Australian universities and schools are widely respected in many disciplines and consistently receive high global rankings. To date, the quality of the Australian education system has produced many high-profile individuals on the world stage, including Nobel Laureates and politicians in Singapore.

Besides the quality of education in Australia, foreign students are also attracted to Australia because of the diverse cultures and vibrant lifestyle. The Australian government also has a legal framework in place to ensure the quality of life and education for foreign students.

To conclude, I wish you all the best in the pursuit of your education and I hope that your visit to the Study in Australia Education Fair will be beneficial to your journey towards a fruitful academic experience.

Thank you.

Kirsten Sayers
